Cute Sandwich Idea: The Friendly Mr. Owl

Cute Sandwich Idea: The Friendly Mr. Owl
 The Friendly Mr. Owl

Meet the friendly Mr. Owl.  His head/body is a peanut butter sandwich, his eyes are Ritz crackers with blueberries, wings and strawberries.  His beak and feet are carrots, and the moon is a banana.  I created those stars by placing some plain yogurt in my cake-decorating bag and using the star shaped tip.  I’m not gonna lie, that was going a little above and beyond, You could easily just dab the yogurt on with a small spoon if you want to recreate this guy!

Cute Sandwich Idea: Volcano

Cute Sandwich Idea: Volcano
Volcano

This volcano was made in honor of my daughter’s recent fascination with lava.   The volcano is a grilled cheese sandwich, the lava is ketchup (used for dipping) and the ground below is some rice leftover from last night’s dinner.
Simply cut your grilled cheese sandwich into a triangle, squeeze your ketchup to look like lava, and add something for the ground beneath the volcano.

"Hot Cocoa" Sandwich

"Hot Cocoa" Sandwich
Hot Cocoa - Sandwich

Oh, the joys of hot cocoa in the winter — the steaming cup of chocolatey goodness, especially with little marshmallows! In keeping with the season, I made this super simple “hot cocoa” sandwich. I originally made it without the Fruit Roll-Ups as decoration, but when I showed it to my nephews, they said: “Ooooo, decorate the cup!”  So I did, but it’s completely optional. Decorate it as silly as you want, or leave it plain.

Let’s Fly a Kite!
Turn a sandwich into a kite with this simple, high-flying lunch idea

One of my kids’ favourite activities on a windy Spring day is to fly a kite! They get so excited when their kite catches a breeze and flies high through the sky. I love seeing the joy on their faces! We’ve already flown our kites several times this Spring, and I thought it would be fun to make them a kite lunch too. This lunch was really simple to make and took only minutes to assemble.

Two of our very favorite sandwiches to make for parties or just a fun lunch are our Rocket Ship sandwich and our Ice Cream Cone sandwich.  It's a great way to get kids to eat more veggies, as many of the sandwich elements are made from pieces of vegetables.

Banish the rainy day blues with this fun and easy lunch kids will love

Spring is finally here! After getting snow for much of April, we’re finally having a gorgeous weekend here in my neck of the woods. (And it’s been a long time coming!) That being said, the forecast is now calling for rain. I’m okay with that though; the rain helps melt the remaining snow and will clean things up a bit. The rain also brings flowers! You know the saying, “April showers bring May flowers”? Let’s hope that’s true.
With just a few ingredients, this April Showers-themed lunch is super easy to make and is the perfect meal on a rainy day.

No kid will be able to resist this super-cute (and easy!) dog-inspired lunch

My kids just love fun sandwiches. Don’t get me wrong, they’ll still eat “plain” sandwiches any day, but I usually make them a fun lunch or snack at home once a week and they look forward to it sooooo much. They just loved everything about this cute little doggy sandwich. It was really simple to make and I didn’t use any fancy tools to make it. All you need is a good kitchen knife and you’re ready to go!
